The Snow Beast

"Snowpocalypse 2012" is upon us, resulting in something like 6 inches of snow piling up around our home.  It'd been probably about 6 years since I'd really played in the snow, so while Charlie was napping I indulged my inner elementary schooler and made a snow man just her size.
After she woke up, had some snuggles and a diaper change, I took her out back to meet her new friend.
It went well.  (Sarcasm, p.s.)  She freaked if I put her down, so these are my attempts at pictures.
From above, while she clings for dear life to my leg.
 The horror.
Sigh...maybe next year.  For now we'll hunker down inside, eating mashed potatos and listening to Wicked...not a bad alternative, really :)

Driving under the rainbow

We have had some wild weather here in the last week or so, and as it happened, I drove home from work the other day under a double rainbow. Here's some pictures I snapped while stopped at lights.

It's officially Autumn in Seattle, and I'm excited!

One week we had balmy days reaching the 80's and 90's. Then next...50's and 60's with sporatic storms. Last night we pulled out our winter blanket and put it over our summer one. It's time for fall.
Tonight I'm planning on putting some flannel sheets on the bed. The time for lightweight cotton is gone. I'll also put away our summer bedspread and move our heavy chocolate brown fuzzy quilt into place officially.
I'm excited to make a big pot of cider on the stove like my mom always did, complete with cloves and cinnamon sticks floating in it.
I'm excited to enjoy lots of tea and time reading with Tim.
I'm excited to wear cozy sweaters and slippers.
I'm excited to put gourds and mini pumpkins all over the house.
I'm excited to eat hearty warming foods like green bean casserole and potato soup.
I'm excited to start Christmas shopping (I bought the first gift today...way behind my usual schedule.)
What are you excited for?

Our Stay in the Westin

We love the Westin Bellevue. We've stayed there twice. Both times we've reserved a standard King Suite, and both times we've been upgraded to a corner suite with panoramic views. Check it out.
From our room we had views of the waterfront, the city and Mt. Rainier. It was fun to see it in all lights, daylight, sunset, night time, and sunrise. Notice the cloud cover under Mt. Rainier. That was at about 6 am. It was a great place to stay for our 5th anniversary celebration. Next post will show you how we filled our days.

A Walk in My Garden

It was a short walk...but the sunrise was so beautiful it inspired some pictures.

Oh hello Fall!

I almost didn't recognize you, what with your disguise of bright sunshine and 85 degree temperatures. I'm sure soon enough you'll be masking our lawns with blankets of orange leaves, and dampening our doorsteps with light showers. But for now I'll take the lovely weather.
